Alternate Forms of Freemasonry

As well as the Freemasonry most people are aware of a number of groups have, over time, appeared also entitling themselves Freemasonry and/or Freemasons.

There are groups completely styled on Freemasonry but are bespokely for women, or mixed gender, there are self styled groups for specific faiths or ethnic roots. All these groups are unique in their own right, and make up a part of Freemasonry as a whole, but are not apart of the dominant Freemasonry stemming from 1717.

There are also a number of self-styled masonic groups that hold no legitimate claim to be Freemasonry, some are purely for revenue, some for other less savoury means.

For this reason we include here at Freemasonry Universal information on them as well, to give you a greater understanding and picture of Freemasonry as a whole and also to serve as a warning to check what it is you are joining before you sign on the dotted line

It is not the purpose of this site to determine which is "real" and which isn't, nor is it intended to place one version above another and most definitely we do not wish to try and tell you which one to join should that be the reason for your visit here.

Due to the membership credentials of me, the author of the site, I do feel compelled to place here my own Grand Lodges comments with regard to "other" forms of Freemasonry because although I have no desire to influence your opinion, view or actions, for those interested in joining there are limitations for each group that may not be apparent at face value. I do not feel I am stepping on any toes here, or placing insult on my site with reference to any of the other forms of Freemasonry available as ALL detail similar details on their own official sites with regard to the others also.

However what we will do, which I do not believe any other masonic site does in favor of trying to promote one form over another, is provide you with information on the others via links to the right. What we will also do is invite members of the other groups to submit their own personal comments, respectable comments only will be accepted, about their organisations. Please note this is an invite to send information not promotional content, adverts, recruiting material, or anything similar. We would also like any official spokesperson for these groups to send any official information about their group for us to list on the relevant page, again it is an invite to provide the visitors of this site factual information not propoganda.

Remember you can submit your personal opinions on any of the page topics of this site!

UGLE Regarding Other Masonic Bodies/Groups

Freemasonry is practised under many independent Grand Lodges with standards similar to those set by the United Grand Lodge of England.

There are some Grand Lodges and other apparently Masonic bodies that do not meet these standards, e.g. that do not require a belief in a Supreme Being, or that allow or encourage their members as such to participate in political matters.

These Grand Lodges and bodies are not recognised by the United Grand Lodge of England as being Masonically regular, and Masonic contact with them is forbidden.
